Pandit Sivāgam Ratna Ranjith Gurukkal was born in a Sivacharya family in Coimbatore. His family line is the Parampara Archakas (Hereditary priests ) of the Vellalore Theneeswarar Temple, Coimbatore. He holds graduate degrees in Veda and Saivagama from Sivaneri Kazhakam and in Astrology/Prasnam and Vastu shastra from Kasyap Vedic Studies Coimbatore. He has served as a head priest in temples all over India for a time of 16 years. He is immaculate in speaking Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and English. Ranjith Gurukkal came to Australia in 2010 to serve as the head priest of Perth Hindu Temple.
