Description

Purohit Rishikesh Bhattar was born in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. He has been serving the Australian Indian community for 36 years as an inevitable part of their traditional rituals. Initially, being the head priest of Venkateswara temple in Helensburgh, he decided to retire and accept the position of purohit. He did his Sanskrit studies from Ramanuja Sanskrit Pathashala and then joined Sri Venkateswara Veda and Agama Pathashala at Tirupati for further learning. He held a major role in the temple consecrations in Australia, India, and Sri Lanka. He still serves as archaka in the temple as well as mediating wedding ceremonies and Mangalya pujas in Indian weddings.
